About
I love storytelling. It gives me the opportunity to connect with people on a deeper level while also teaching me more about myself. That's why I went to film school, so I could pursue a career that valued authenticity.
Currently, I work to communicate the mission and values of ACH Child and Family Services into emotionally compelling stories that resonate with a broad audience; via multimedia. One of my biggest achievements has been creating and hosting ACH’s original podcast, Counting On Us; a documentary-style series featuring the stories of some of the most vulnerable people in the foster care system served by ACH. While I am proud the podcast has won awards, like 2x ADDYs, GOLD AVA Digital Award, and a GOLD Hermes Creative Award; I love that I get to tell stories of resilience, healing, and transformation.
Some of the most rewarding moments in my life have been getting to see my own short films screened in movie theaters and connecting with audience members. Some of the film festivals my work has screened at are the Lone Star FF, Inside Out FF, Reeling FF, San Antonio FF, Cine Las Americas, and Indie Memphis. I worked on each film from concept to script, and then directed, produced, and edited the projects until completion.
The story of my last short film, Coming Home, was inspired from my time spent abroad in Madrid, Spain. For 3 years, I used storytelling and art as a framework in creating dynamic lesson plans to improve English proficiency for students. It was a life changing experience, because it taught me how to adapt and connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and immerse myself in new environments.
Earlier in my career, I was a lead editor on S1 and S2 of the Austin Film Festival’s half-hour PBS-affiliate TV series, On Story; available in over 88% of the national PBS market. I also directed, filmed, and edited 30 second Spanish TV spots for Walmart’s Price Comparison Campaign, broadcast in the Houston and Albuquerque metropolitan area. Other notable brands and studios include Dell, A&E’s Shipping Wars, TLC’s Toddlers and Tiaras, Austin Film Society, MAV TV, and Photohouse Films.
When it comes to storytelling, I understand that collaboration is necessary. Besides my technical production experience, what I uniquely bring to the table is my ability to navigate complex topics by addressing them through mission-driven stories. Balancing content that represents a brand’s values in an emotionally compelling way while having broad appeal.
